Why am I interested in helping you?
I’ve spent 25 years at the bedside as a labor and delivery nurse. My career has been taking care of pregnant and breastfeeding women. In the last few years, I have noticed an increase in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs). As a lactation consultant, I have spent a lot time researching medications for lactating and pregnant women.
My role as a registered nurse had limitations. I wanted to be more proactive in Perinatal Mental Health. I wanted to assist pregnant and lactating women in making the personal choice whether or not to initiate or discontinue psychiatric medications during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. I believe in collaborative decision-making and look forward to assist you in discussing risks/benefits, statical data, and latest research regarding psychiatric medication use during pregnancy and lactation. After receiving my PMHNP from Drexel University, I obtained my Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International (PSI).
I feel there is a great need for my services in Perinatal Mental Health.
